Hooked On Fishin' with My Mind's Eye

I created this layout of my grandson fishing with his grandpa for a layout challenge going at Paper Patch Crafts. We were to use the sketch layout from Page Maps as our guide.
I just love the Page Maps layouts, there are also card layouts. The best thing is that the ones on their site are free, you can upload them, print them or save them for future uses.

Here are a few photos of some of the details to my layout. I used Adorn It Gone Fishing Stickers. I also inked all of my pieces using Chestnut Roan Ink.

I place some of the stickers with pop dots and left a few lay flat. Pop dots always gives extra dimension.

The paper line I used is from My Minds Eye Stella Rose Hattie Collection:Buddies, Remember, and Boy papers.

SUPPLIES:

My Minds Eye Stella Rose

EK Deco Scallop Punch

Adorn It Gone Fishing Sticker

Chestnut Roan Ink

Vintage Heartfelt Designs Fourth of July Challenge

Happy Fourth of July well it will be here before we know it, we are doing a challenge at Vintage Heartfelt Designs and would love for you to show off the cards that you made and participate in the challenge. Make sure to go to Vintage Heartfelt Designs and see how to participate. I am using the new Bo Bunny Liberty Freedom and Dots papers to make my card with.

I took a piece of 8 1/2" x 11" Kraft card stock and made my 5 1/2" card base and with the left overs I made a 2" x 5 1/2" strip to place on the front of my card but first I used my Tim Holtz Broken China, Barn Door Distress Inks and blending tool to give the Kraft card stock some color that would go along with the vintage feel of the card that I was making. I also added some random star stickers from Reminisce The Freedom Collection to place on the inked Kraft card stock.

I took a piece of the Freedom paper, my Martha Stewart scoreboard and scored the paper every 1/8" to make my accordian fold that
I placed pop dots behind my Karen Foster Patriotic Parade sticker that I had place on a piece of the Kraft card stock. I also ink the edges of all of my pieces with Chestnut Roan Ink.

I hope everyone has a bless Fourth of July and enjoy family, bbq, firework but take time to remember your freedom and those that serve our country so that we always can be assured of it. Thank you to our service men and women and their families and sacrifices that they make so willingly.

Graphic 45 Le Crique Copic/Stamping Altered Cigar Box and a GIVEAWAY!!!!

Do you love altered work? If you do today I am sure you will enjoy the details that I applied to the Cigar Box that I altered. I wanted something special for my BFF, so I decided I would make a Stamping/Copic Marker box for her since she hasn't had a chance to get any of the markers yet.
To begin with I purchased a cigar box from our local Cigarette store for $1.50, can't beat that. I decided I want the top to be extremely unique so I started by making a basket weave of 4 different pieces of Graphic 45 papers. The strips were 1/4" strips so it became very tedious to do the top but so worth it when it was finished. I also glued it to a piece of chipboard to give it more dimension.

If you love dimension you will definitely love the top of the box. I made some accordion flowers using my Tim Holtz flower die. The roses is made from a piece of paper that I tore making a circle, I began tearing it to form a spiral and then rolled it up from the outside part of the spiral using my tweezers.

Here is what the left side of the top of the box looks like. Don't you love all of the detail, do you see the elephant that is at the bottom of the box. He was fussy cut from one of the Graphic 45 Le Crique papers and placed on with pop dots

This is actually the lower right corner. The center of the accordion flowers are made using my I Top, one medium and one small I Top brad.

I decided to angle pictures so you can see all of the pieces a bit closer. I am definitely not a fan of flat areas, but if that is the look that you like it would be just as beautiful. See the Tim Holtz Pen Nib, I had to place it there because I was a 1/2" short on my blue satin ribbon but yet it worked out perfectly. Remember, there is no mistakes in scrapbooking or paper crafting it is just away to become more creative. Aren't the legs magnificent. I just love them.

This is the inside cover of the box. I tried very hard to keep it fun and circus like since my friend has a collection of clowns that she received from her mother in law when she past away.

Here are more of those fabulous elephants. I tied small red twin string to each of their tails to make it look like they were connected.

In the bottom left corner I added a Tim Holtz Clock Face and Game Spinner along with some Happy Birthday metals. I wanted it to look like I was telling my friend "Happy Birthday Time".

I fussy cut some of the LeCrique papers and placed it on the inside of the box lid, made a black string type wire and place my little acrobat on the string.

I made two compartments in the bottom of the box staying along the same theme. I added a ribbon to the right side of the bottom of the box and glued it to the top so it formed a hinge for the box.

Of course it wouldn't be a Copic/Stamping box without copics and stamps. I know as she gets more Copics she will either add them to the box or use the box for something else special. I hope you enjoyed seeing my special gift and try making something out of a box for yourself or for a friend. ENJOY!!!

OH!!! I almost forgot no birthday celebration is without presents so please leave a comment and IF I make it over 500 followers guess what there will be a giveaway!!!! A present that you will be suprised by!!! So please post on your facebook and Twitter accounts and help me go over that 500 follower mark!!!!

Scrapbookaholic by Abby Beach Party Blog Hop June 25 & 26 - "Grains of Sand

Today is a blog hop with Scrapbookaholic by Abby and the Design Team. If you stopped by to see what was happening with me today I would like to encourage you to go the Scrapbookaholic by Abby and join us in the hop, if you came here from Sandra of 365 Days of Cricut than you are going in the right direction for the hop.
I scrapped a layout of my little grand-daughter Annie playing in the sand at the ocean while we were visiting our sons that live in Florida. As you can see we definitely were not dress for the beach since this was taken at Thanksgiving. It was 45 here in Memphis at the time and 90 degrees there.
First, I cut a piece of GCD Studios Georgia paper to measure 9 1/2" x 9 1/2" and glued it to the Peggy Sue paper. Cut 1 strip from Frances and 1 strip from Georgia papers to measure 3/4" x 9 1/2" and 1 strip of the Georgia paper to measure 1" x 9 1/2". Take one piece of the Georgia paper and your EK Swiss Cheese punch and punch across strip of paper. Layer and adhere the Frances, Georgia and Tara papers to the Peggy Sue paper. Once they are glued on I sewed them with my sewing machine.
I then took the "LIVE" card from Jenni Bowlin Bingo Card set and inked it with Tim Holtz Broken China, Tea Dye, and Aged Mohongany Distressed inks. Glue it to the bottom of the lowest strip of paper. I radomly placed my Creative Imaginations epoxy stickers on and near my bingo card.
I added two Chantilly Charms to my page, one I glue to the page the other I placed on with a pop dot. I placed an antique brad in the center of each before I put them on the page. I also used 4 antique brads on each corner of Annies photo. The photo at the top of the layout is double matted with the Georgia paper.
I hope you continue on the hop by next visiting Michelle of Scrappin With My Bug and continuing through out the hop. I am sure you will find lots of fun ideas, projects, tutorials and I am sure some blog candy along the way.

I am always excited about the Fourth of July, it is coming up quickly on us as we are celebrating in the Red, White and Blue Hop. It always reminds me of our freedom and that we should never take it for granted. I made two cards for this weekends hop, I am not sure of the paper line that I used since it was in my scrap box but I think that they both turned out fabulous. My stars are from the Quickutz Nesting Stars

I always love coordinating papers, it makes designing so easy. I punched out some of the fun patriotic symbols from my paper and placed them on pop dots.

My second card I used the corner rounder and rounded the corners of my card and rectangles that I placed on my card. I added some sweet red star eyelets to my America label.

My star is a chipboard star that I painted with a Blue Paint Dabber and placed it on my card once it was dried. I also added a small piece of ribbon to the front of the card.

Again I hope you enjoy the hop and the next stop is with Michelle's Peanut Butter and Jelly Designs. Remember as we come up on the Fourth of July to celebrate and reflect on our freedom, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and have a wonderful Fourth of July.

Card Kit Make Over Week 3

Here is my third set of cards, if you missed out on the two previous post they are on May 31st and June 6th posts if you would like to see how I transformed the cards from the kit. I used the card base, flower stripe paper and Best Wishes from the kit. I distressed my edges with the Tim Holtz distress tool and inked the edges with Chestnut Roan Ink. I added a ribbon that I looped using my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.
Here is the original card from the kit and now on to these fabulous flowers and how they were made.

The blue and pink flowers were cut from the Cosmo Cricket DeLovely DeLectable paper that I painted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, once they were dried I layered them and placed buttons in the center of each that I had tied some blush twine to. My pink rosette is a torn circle from the Cosmo Cricket Delovely DeLectable paper. I tore it into a spiral, twisted it around my tweezers and glued it to the base of the circle. I did allow it to spring out a bit before I glued it. I then placed it on my card and add three small gemstones to the Best Wishes die cut that I had placed on pop dots
Here is the last card that I will be sharing from the kit, I sure hope you have enjoyed the transformation of the cards that I have shared with you over the last 3 weeks.
I used the card base, the flower paper, rub on and square die cut from the kit.

I made my rosette from the Tim Holtz Rosette die. After it was glued on to the square die cut that I placed on pop dots I added a button to the center that I had blush twine tied to. I added the rubons under the die cut along with some small clear gemstones.
