Challenge #4 Anything Mother's Day & Use Faux Stitching

Challenge #4 Anything Mother's Day & Use Faux Stitching Giveaway is happening at Scrapbookaholic by Abby and our sponsor is Sakura (http://www.sakuraofamerica.com/). I hope you participate in the challenge that is going on and make sure to link your Mothers Day project in to Scrapbookaholic by Abby. The giveaway is: Set of 6 pens Gelly Roll Glitter and set of 2 white Gelly Roll how fabulous is that.

Here is a card I made, though it is not a "Mother's Day" Card per say, it was made as I was thinking of my mom. I so "Cherished" her, she has been deceased now for almost 15 years, this is so hard to believe, so my card is for my mom that I "Cherished". Happy Mothers Day Mom, you were so loved.

I did my faux stitching using one of the Sakura White pens on both the front of my card and on the inside pocket that I created. My tag is from the KaiserCraft Chanteuse Marcato Die Cut sheet that I got from Paper Patch Crafts. The paper that I used for my card and the butterflies are from Bo Bunny Gabrielle 6x6paper pad. Love paper pads, they are perfect for card making. To give those awesome butterflies that I fussy cut some glam I used my Frosted Lace Stickles and rubbed it on to the top of the wings.

Here is the pocket I was talking about that I placed in the inside of my card. When you make your pocket just glue the sides and bottom and leave the top open for the placement.

I would love to share with those of you that didn't realize I had been published in the Spring Issue 2011 of Scrapbooking and Beyond magazine. This was very exciting for me. The most excitng thing was that the layout that was featured was of my mom and brother when he was an infant.

As I shared my mom was "Cherished" by me and I always want to honor and remember her as positively as I can. Happy Mothers Day to those that are a mom, grandma, for every lady that is involved in someone elses life.

Butterflies & Blogs Hop

Today we are celebrating the last year that Laura will in her 20s, I guess she is getting starting to see the what is in store for her in the 30s, I am sure it will be filled with excitement and adventures. Happy Birthday Laura!!!! If you came hopping along the butterfly and blog trails from Sarah's Live, Love and SCRAP then you are on the right path and if you stop to see what I am doing today I would encourage you to go Laura's Makin' Pretty Things and join us in the hop, there are 29 hops that will be celebrating her birthday. I am sure you will see lots of beautiful projects, wonderful tutorials and maybe along the hop get enter in drawings to recieve some fabulous giveaways. I made two birthday cards both using the My Minds Eye 6" x 6" Stella Rose Hattie collection along with SRM Stickers. On my first card I used my notebook paper punch to create my notebook look edge paper.

I stamped one of the pieces of paper using an Inkadinkado Stamp (91034) and Memento Black Ink. I added a Tim Holtz metal clock hand to the clock face.

I took my Inkadinkado Stamp and stamped the large and small butterflies twice onto a piece of the blue paper that is in the paper stack, fussy cut them and glued one of each onto my stamped imaged that I had previously stamped. I then took the last two butterflies folded the wings up a bit and painted them with the Distress Crackle Paint, allowed it to dry and then glued them to the top of the blue butterflies. This gives my card great dimension.

Again, my second card is made from the paper from the same stack. This time I used the Tim Holtz Filigree stamp along with the Stampers Anonymous Papillon Stamps.

I did my butterflies using the same technique as above only with the Papillon Stamp and Memento Black Ink. Both of my SRM Stickers Birthday stickers are on pop dots. I added a 2" scallop circle along with a Prima Bintage Trinket to the front of my card.

I hope you enjoy my birthday cards and continue the hop by going to very talented Corri's Bug Lover Cards.

Two Easter Cards with TPC Studio and SRM Stickers

Yesterday I shared a fun paint pail that I made using the TPC Studio Happy Spring papers and SRM Stickers. Today I would like to share with you the two cards that I made with some of my leftover paper and stickers. These are both super easy to make. My accordian flower is made with the Martha Stewart that I scored every 1/4", folded, glued the ends together and placed it on my card. I place a Spring brad in the center of my flower. My roses are made from tearing 2 1/2" circles into spiral shapes, using my tweezers and starting at the outside edge I wrapped the spiral loosely around the tweeters and glued it to the card when my roses were made. My leaves are made from teardrop cuts of green card stock that I scrunched and open up .
My second card is again made with the leftover paper, a We R Memory Keepers die cut bunny, and I made a tab using the SRM Sticker. Once I had my paper in placed and before I added my bunny to the front of my card I did my looped ribbon to the front of my card. On the inside of the card I made a pocket to place a gift card in. Hope you enjoy my Easter card and make sure to try some of the techniques out on your cards.

Hippity Hoppity Easter Paint Pail

Hard to believe that Easter is just a week away. I made this little paint pail from Stampendous for one of my grand kids and I planning on filling full of Easter treats. My cute little bunny die cut is from We R Memory Keepers and I took some of the SRM Stickers eggs to and placed them on the bunny and in the grass that I made using my Martha Stewart multi blade scissors. On the SRM Sticker Easter sheet was this sweet tag, I just had to add it to my pail to share that Easter is definitely on its way. On the lid I made an accordion folded flower that I had punched with one of my border punches before made my flower. I added one of the SRM Stickers to the top of my scallop circle. If you have never made one of these paint cans I would suggest you get you one, they are super easy and super fun to make. Patches of Pink Link Party and Challenge

Patches of Pink is having a design team call and we are to link up our Easter project to showcase our work. I thought I would share my Easter Egg Wall Hanging. It is an oval that I drew and covered with my pattern papers to make it look like I dyed an Easter Egg. My bunny details are chalked to give his fur a little dirty look. I also did his cheeks and drew his whiskers, eyes, and nose on with my black Zig Pen. My flowers were punched from the Fiskars Daisy Flower punch and layer onto of each other with a brad in the center. My stems and hanger are all made from thin gauge wire but you could use twine and ribbon if you need to. If you haven't been to Patches of Pink you should run right on over there, Jalissa has weekly challenges, she also has wonderful ideas and showcases others work which is always fabulous.

My 39 & Glamorous Blog Hop - April 15-17

Happy Birthday Bonnie!!!! This weekend we are celebrating Bonnie's birthday and every birthday should be celebrated BIG!!!! Bonnie is hosting a blog hop with 39 designers to celebrate with her. I am sure if you just popped in here to see what I am doing today you will want to go over to Bonnie's at A Scrap Above and participate in the celebration hop and if you came from Cori's Bug Lovers than you are hopping in the right direction. There are so many talented designers, there will be wonderful giveaways, projects and tutorials. Bonnie asked us to make a project that would include some of her favorite colors which are black, purple, hop pink and white along with her favorite things which are skulls, keys, butterflies, distress grunge, bling and of course ribbon. I incorporated all in my 6 x 6 Grungeboard Mini Birthday Album.
I used already embossed grunge paper for the covers, painted over it with the Tim Holtz White Paint Dabber and wiped it some of it off before it dried. Once it dried I took my Tim Holtz Concord Grape and Fired Brick Stains and rubbed them lightly over the top of my book. The skulls are from Stripes Element Grunge collection, I just painted the large one with the Tim Holtz Black Paint Dabber. I glued random tags, metals, key, bling, etc to the front of the book keeping in mind what Bonnie likes.

I found these fabulous vellum stickers in my sticker collection so I thought they were perfect for my birthday project. Some are included on the front cover as well. My border is the EK Abstract Flower Punch. I took a piece of white card stock and ran it through my Sizzix Boutique using the Time Patchwork Texture Fade Embossing Folder after I had placed my sticker on. I inked again with my Tim Holtz Concord Grape Distress Stain. Love, love that stain, so very easy to use and a must to have. *NOTE: when you are embossing make sure to add your stickers or stamped images first before you emboss.

My paper is Basic Grey Cauldron and Witches Brew for this page. I used my Ek Bracket Punch for my borderand did some stitch lines with my black Zig pen.

I matted pink and black card stock, did some line work with using my black Zig pen to do my stitch linesand added some fussy cut skulls from the Halloween Silhouette to the page on the left. the page on the right is the K&Company Halloween Silhouette that I cut to fit over my pink card base.

This page and the next are the Prima Rebellious Collection along with the Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage Ribbon Pleats. Again my grudge label and key are from the Stripes Elements Grudge collection.

I just did random size circles using my George & Basic Shapes Cricut Cartridge and layered them on top of each other, did some more stitching using my black Zig pen.

These two pages are using the American Craft Amplified Die Cuts with the Rebellion Collection from Prima.

I hope you enjoyed my altered album and would love if you would leave a comment telling me one of your favorite things you enjoy scrapbooking with, would love for you to follow my blog if you feel like it. I will be giving a birthday gift away on this hop, don't you think birthday gifts should be a surprise, and would love for you to share on your facebook I am hoping to reach 500 followers soon.

Happy Easter Card

Isn't it hard to believe that we are just a few weeks from Easter. I remember as a child my mom would tell me that the older you get time will go by faster. I look at this year and think it has flew by. I am beginning to think that it is time to slow down and live each day to its fullest. I made this cute card using Making Memories paper and die cuts. My egg is using a Quickutz die that I borrowed from a friend, I just thought it was so cute and had to share it today. It reminds me that spring is here.... the bluebirds are busy building their nest, the flowers are beginning to bloom, the pear trees and red buds are all in bloom. Everywhere you look you can see the life that God has given us to enjoy and cherish. Here is a little closer look at the chick, he is trying so hard to break through his shell. I placed him on pop dots to give him a little bit of dimension to my card. Enjoy the day that the Lord has given us and be reminded it is spring. Enjoy!!!

Scrapbookaholic by Abby Challenge #3

Challenge #3 with Scrapbookaholic by Abby is to use an animal and the color orange to create your project with. The ASPCA (http://www.aspca.org/about-us/aspca-april/) has an important annual event in April, it is the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month. Each year, the ASPCA urges supporters across the country to support their efforts and "Go Orange for Animals". If you would would like to participate in the Challenge please go to Scrapbookaholic by Abby to get the details to see how to link your project up. I did a "mini" album using chipboard pieces from GCD Studio Chip Art, they were actually banners that I turned into a book. My project is about a kitten that my husband men watched as it was getting run over by a coal train in the rail yards where he works. All they were able to do was stand and watch as this little kitten got tossed to and fro under the train. When it had passed one of the men ran to see if it was still alive - anticipating his sure death or at least him being maul pretty seriously. When he got to the kitten he was just meowing and because of the heat of the rail and railroad ties his paws were burnt and he wasn't able to stand. His left eye was swollen from being knocked around from being under the train. The guys brought the kitten to my husbands office and tried to take care of his needs, at the end of the day though someone had to take the kitten home and guess where he went... When my husband came in he was carrying a box, of course I asked him what is in, he just looked at me and I knew right then that it was some kind of animal, I looked in the box and here was this littlest kitten that I had ever seen with a Cup Of Chicken Noodle Soup. (he said that is all he had in his office). I laughed so hard, so you guessed it we became the proud caregivers to Gracie

So we named him "Gracie" because we felt like he was saved by God's Grace, a co-worker added on the "Coal Train" when we discovered the girl kitten was a boy kitten. Gracie was so small our remote control was bigger than he was.

I did some journaling in the little pamphlet I made on the left side of the book At the time we also had a 5month old Yorkie "Charlie" that we had just got. For what ever reason Gracie has always thought of Charlie as his mommy. They are so funny to watch togethey have become inseparable friends

They are so funny to watch togethey have become inseparable friends. When Gracie would get tired he wouldther and lay imy wooden bowl to rest and I think at times to hide from Charlie. I never knew how busy a kitten could be, he played and played and then he would just sleep for hours at a time.

Honor of My Dad Blog Hop - April 9 and 10

How exciting it is to have a great dad, have a husband that is a wonderful father and have sons and son in law that are excellent fathers. Honor of My Dad Blog Hop that Jennifer is hosting is to honor our dad, so if you came from Scappin Lil Turtles then you are in the right place but if you popped in to see what I have going on I would encourage you to do the hop, there will be so many wonder designers that are honoring the men in their lives. If you came from Chris Stinky Dog Designs than you are doing the hop in the right order.

I am so fortunate to be amongst those that have all. My father was a great dad most of the time I was growing up but when I was a preteen he returned from Vietnam and had changed so much, I lived in a nightmare most of the time but as he grew older and I became a woman and with help of the Lord we came to understand each other and made peace before he passed away. I do miss him so at times, every girl usually has a special place in their heart for their dad and memories whether good or bad - mine were equal in that respect but I do have them and choose to reflect on the good memories.

My husband is so wonderful he makes up for all the trials of youth that I had to walk through and has shown me so much unconditional lovem he loves me completely and has shown our sons how to do that as their roll model. We have 3 sons (two which are dads, I think pretty good ones so far) and one son in law that is equally as great as my sons are.

Here is my project:

I decided to show a layout with my oldest son with his little girl, she wanted her hair braided, he sat and just braided small braids in her hair until she fell asleep.

The next day I asked her to give me 10 reasons why she loved her daddy and these are her answer. Autumn was 5 at the time.. I took my paper that had the Reasons I Love My Dad and cut the words from the sheet and distressed it along with the list using my Tim Holtz Distrss Tool. I added a metal heart and a "Dream" tag that I had inked with my Peeled Paint and Broken China Distress inks. My mats are green and blue card stock but on my green mat I used my Black Zig Pen and did some ditto lines and circles to make it pop behind my photo. I added some staples from my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. I also ran Tim Holtz Mossiac tissue tape down the left side of the reason tag.

I punched my circles from a 2 1/2", 2" and 1 1/2" punch, wrinkled them up and inked them with Peeled Paint and Broken China and added them to the bottom of my list. I also added a button that I had tied with string to the center of the circles.

I hope you enjoy my layout and my reminiscing of the men in my life, you next stop on the hop is at Jessica's The Creative Stamper.
