"A True Friend" card

I had a fabulous weekend scrapbooking with my bestie Patty. It was nice to catch up (we haven't seen each other in months), laugh and of course make cards. I shared with her some fabulous techniques and tips that I have learned and have begun using in my own projects. Here is the first the "new" Tim Holtz distress stains. Love them, can't say enough about them. I took my white eyelet and ran the Peeled Paint, Faded Jeans, Wild Honey and Antique Linen distress inks over the top of it and just that quick we have a very cool distressed inked lace to place on our card. I attached my lace to a strip of the Stella Rose "Hattie" paper with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher.

Now on to the flower. It is from my Flower Quickutz Die that I cut from a piece of kraft paper and then I cut it a part, used it as a template BUT.... I took the petals, made some of them smaller so they would have a progressive look. Traced them on to my printed paper and cut them out with my sissors. (You can use the petals as they are, make them smaller) I used my McGill Paper Blossom Tool kit and mat to roll all of the petals that I had inked. I glued them to a small snowflake placing the larger petals on the bottom and the smaller ones to the top.
Once I had them all glued into place and the glue had dried I painted all of the petals with Tim Holtz Rocky Candy so it would become stiff and shiny. Allow it to dry completely and then glue it to the top of your card. My sentiment is a Kaisercraft. NOW... I want to encourage you to go to Scrapbookaholic by Abby and check out the challenge that she is having on her blog, all of the details are posted there. My DT project is HERE if you would like to see what I made.

Anything Spring Challenge#2 with Scrapbookaholic by Abby

Wow, it is hard to believe that it has been 2 weeks since I participated in my first challenge as a DT for Scrapbookaholic by Abby. Challenge #2 is all about spring and we were ask to come up with something, anything related to spring. To participate in Challenge #2 all you have to do is make something, anything related to spring, go over to Scrapbookaholic by Abby's and link your project in. Here is my project: A Giant Easter Egg!!! I got a 12x12 piece of card board and cut it into an oval. It is really easy to do but if you are unsure get a piece of scrap paper and draw an oval before you cut it out. I covered my egg with different colors and patterns of decorative paper to make it look like a colored Easter egg. I added a rabbit to it that I drew but I know not all can draw so go to your search engine and type in free rabbit pattern, you will be surprised how many different rabbits you will come up with, you may even find one that you like better than mine. LOL I inked my edges with green and brown inks to give the pieces a bit of a distress look. I also used chalk to make his cheeks and ears rosy. My line work is done with a black Zig Marker. My flowers are done with the Fiskars Daisy Flower punch. I punched the flowers out in 3 different colors and layered them together and held them in place with a small yellow brad. The stems and hanger are wire but you can use ribbon and twine to achieve a similar look. Again, if you would like to participate in the Scrapbookaholic by Abby go to her blog and follow these rules. RULES ARE: Link your ORIGINAL post with project up to Mr. Linky Mention that your project is for... Scrapbookaholic By Abby Challenge #2 Deadline for this challenge will be Saturday April 9th PST Project of your choice MUST be about Anything Spring And most importantly, HAVE FUN!! Make sure to check out all of the other DT's projects that will be posted on Scrapbookaholic by Abby, I am sure you will find lots of inspiration from the designers.

Sending You Happy Thoughts with Echo Park

I was sitting here this morning and reading the news on my computer, I then went to twitter and read some of the tweets I had received, I then decided to go look at my facebook account. Have you noticed lately how many sad situation we are dealing with in our personal lives, the states we live in, our country. It seems never ending. So today I am sending everyone this card that I made. I am sending you "Happy Thoughts". We do have so much to be thankful for, freedom, live, liberty, music, the birds singing, sunshine or rain. We have so much to be thankful for. I learned along time ago that we make a choice on whether we have joy and happiness. I try to choice joy because if we truly look around us there is a small measure of joy that we can fine in each day.

For instance right now as I am sitting here "trying" to type this up my little grand daughter is trying to convince my Yorkie to come to her. It is not working though, even with her trying to pick him up, telling him how cute he is and her hugging on him, he will not go with her. How can I not have joy in seeing that persistence. So I hope everyone has a "Happy Day" in some small way today, this week. Just take the time to look around.

NOW.... on to my card. I made it with the Echo Park "Be Mine" collection and SRM Stickers. I made a small envelope for the front of the card and place two of the Admit Tags in the envelop and tied some twine around it before I placed it to the front of my card. I distressed all of my pieces with the Tim Holtz distress tool and added a few staples to the card after I got it together
On the inside I added a journal block so I will have a place to write on since my card base is black. Hope you enjoy my card and remember to "Think Happy Thoughts".

Thank You cards using My Minds Eye Stella Rose Hattie Paper Pad

I bought the My Minds Eye Stella Rose Hattie Paper pad and Gertie Girly Stamps recently and thought I would make a few thank you cards with them. I know I can never have to many thank you cards and thought you may like to see the versatility in using one stamp and achieving different looks with it.

On my first card I used one of the larger doily stamps and using three different Zing Embossing Powders (Mustard, Leaf and Navy) along with my embossing gun and Versamark ink I achieved this stamped images. I fussy cut around it and placed it on some squares that I had distressed using my Tim Holtz distressing tool and tiny attacher to do some stapling with. I placed it to the top of my card and then added an SRM Thank You sticker to a trip of paper and placed it on pop dots to go over the top of the square.
My second card is done with the same stamp. Only this time I use four different colors of Memento Ink (Cantaloupe, Bahama Blue, Summer Sky and Paris Dusk). I fussy cut around the image only this time I place a decorative brad in the center of the doily and placed it on pop dots and attached it to the front of my decorated A2 card base, again all of the papers came from the Stella Rose Paper Pad. My sentiment is also an SRM Thank You Sticker. I would encourage to try them, they sure make card fast and easy.

Lucky Leprechaun St Patty's Day Blog Hop

Nicolette from Beyond Scrappin is having a Blog Hop to celebrate St Patricks Day. So with the luck of the Irish make sure to remember to wear "Green" and I hope you enjoy my "Lucky Green Card" that reminds me how lucky I am to have my family and friends this St Patricks Day.
If you came by my blog to see what I am doing today please join in the fun by starting the hop at Beyond Scrappin, if you came here from Creative Army Wife with Jennifer than you are heading in the right direction of the hop.

Here is the card that I made. I used a chipboard clover and covered it with green card stock. I also stamped I'm so, so, so, lucky on to the clover and did a little line work around all the edges as well as some small circles using my black zig pen. Before I placed my clover to the top of my card I did some zig zag stitching around the edges of the card and on both sides of the dark green strip of paper using my sewing machine. *Remember, when you sew on paper it will dull your needle so I keep your paper needle seperated from the need you use on your fabric.
Your next stop on the hop is with Karel at One By One the Flamingo Are Stealing My Sanity.
There are 22 fabulous designers on the blog hop so make sure to go to each one for lots of St Patricks Day inspiration, ideas and tutorial and you never know you might fine some Green Goodies along the way to win. I would love to have you become a follower and leave a comment if you feel like it and let me know how lucky you are in life.

March Fun Holidays Challenge#1 with Scrapbookaholic by Abby

"Families are like old quilts...Although they tend to

unravel at times each can be stitched back together with love."

Welcome to the very 1st Scrapbookaholic By Abby Challenges. Abby will be having these challenges every 2 weeks and the themes are going to be so much fun. This weeks Challenge #1 theme is "Pick Your Own Holiday". You can visit the website http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/march.htm or if you find another National Celebration in March you can use it also. Make sure to mention your project post, what day and what celebration it is and most important go Scrapbookaholic By Abby to link up to MrLinky's.

Do you ever go to the fabric departments at your local craft stores and see all of the beautiful fabrics. I do and think oh if I only have the the time to make a quilt. I love quilts, I have them everywhere in my house and in my RV. I have photos of them and home decor that incorporate them. So when Scrapbooking by Abby asked us to pick a holiday to celebrate of course my first thought was "Quilting Day". Did you know that quilting started by women just taking leftover pieces of fabrics, not carrying about color or coordination and just cutting and sewing those pieces together to form blankets to keep warm by.
Quilting Day is celebrated on the 3rd Sat of March and it began in 1991 by the National Quilting Association. This year it will be celebrated on March 19th so start looking in your local area and try to attend a quilt show, you would be surprised by the amazing quilts and other projects you will see.
Here is the project I made for Quilting Day. I started with a 12"X12" Black Frame, a piece of 12"x12" white card stock and 5 different pieces of the Cosmo Cricket Fat Free, Sugar Free, High in Fiber Collection; Cosmo Cricket is the sponsor for Scrapbookaholic by Abby today. I also used my In Stitches, paper piercer and needle with brown embroidery floss.

I began by paper piecing my quilt squares and gluing the paper pieces to my white cardstock.

I pierced around all of the pieces after they were all placed on the white card stock and then hand stitched them with one strain of the brown embroidery floss. You can use a sewing machine to achieve the same look but I feel with the block pieces being so small it was just as easy to do it by hand though it is quite tedious.

I went to an antique store and picked up antique bobbins, spools, needle container, etc. I also used a tag from 7 Gypsies along with some of the Tim Holtz metals and Making Memories buttons.
Again, if you would like to participate in the Scrapbookaholic by Abby go to her blog and follow these rules.RULES ARE:
*** Link your ORIGINAL post with project up to Mr. Linky
*** Mention that your project is for... Scrapbookaholic By Abby Challenge #1
*** Deadline for this challenge will be Saturday March 26th
*** Project of your choice MUST be about March Fun Holidays
*** And most importantly, HAVE FUN!!

Happy 38th Birthday Jennifer, I made this card to share for the blog hop! It is a A7 card made from Bo Bunny Birthday papers, stickers, rub-ons, brads, some random ribbons and a Red Zig Pen. Don't you just love Bo Bunny birthday papers, I know I do, love the bright fun colors.
I started by placing a piece of white card stock to the front of my red card and taking a ruler went around the outside edges with a Red Zig Pen. I then applied the "Celebrate" rub on to the lower right corner, added a stripe square make sure to corner round the right side of the square and a strip of birthday paper to the front of your card stock and with your Glue Pro Glider place it to the front of your card. Take a piece of black gingham ribbon and wrap it where it is on the seam line of the birthday strip.
Take the "Arrow" sticker place it on top of the card front and the "Let's Party" sticker put some pop dots under it and place it on your card. Add some of the black gingham ribbon and red ribbon to the front of the card. I also placed 2 of the birthday brads to the right side of the square. I Love Lucy Blog Hop

Hello everyone and welcome to the very first "I Love Lucy Blog Hop", Abby from Scrapbookaholic by Abby is our gracious hostess and she is a just crazy about "Lucy" so if you want to start the hop make sure to go over to Scrapbookaholic by Abby to begin. If you have arrived her from Debbie's of DD's Crafts then you are heading in the right direction.
I just love Lucy, everytime I hear some one say "Lucy" I think of my sweet husband. I would probably say that for at least 15 years or more when he comes in from work he always enters our home saying "Lucy, I'm home" and I always reply "Dezi I am in Here". So when I was asked to participate of course I was just thrilled.
Abby assigned each of us an episode and mine was "The Diet". Dezi told Lucy that she need to lose a little weight to perform in his musical act that he was preparing for. Ethel decided she would be Lucy's personal trainer and you can only image the rest of the story. As soon as I heard that this is the episode that I would be doing I decided I would do a low calorie recipe book. So I got some of my favorite recipe books and began looking of course at recipes.
Some of my favorite magazines are Light Cooking, Healthy Cooking, and the never fail Weight Watchers.
I also borrowed a couple of cookbooks to look through and here is what I came up with.

I got a skinny Basic Grey Album that measures 2 1/2"x 5 3/4" book for my "Life is a Garden of BEE Slim Recipes". Don't you love how I used the BEE as my "B", hee, hee, hee. All of my papers, embellishments, and die cuts are from Imaginisce new "Berrylicious" Line
I also raised the little "BEE" up on pop dots to give him flight. My letters are from Making Memories Cheeky Shimmer Sticker letters.

This recipe is for "Peach Crumb Pie". Check out how I made a small pocket to place part of my recipe in.

I stamped with Black Memento Ink and colored them in with Copic Markers.
Here is a recipe for the pie crust for the Peach Crumb Pie.
I also found a recipe for Strawberrilicious Cupcakes. I thought they sounded so yummy.

Don't you love the little Watermelon Die Cut. I made a fold up card with it and placed my Watermelon Sorbet in it. It sounded so refreshing and easy. I love easy. To keep it closed I used a pin from the Tim Holtz pins and placed another small bee on it.
The second recipe is a for "Frosting" for those Strawberrilious Cupcakes.
WELL, Did you see the pattern for my recipe book, all desserts. Got to love it, just like "I Love Lucy".
Your next stop on the "I Love Lucy Blog Hop" is with Linda at Krazy Quilling, again make sure to do all of the hop, there will be lots of projects, tutorials, and ideas to be inspired by. Make sure to also make it to Abby's at Scrapbookaholic by Abby and let her know that you did the hop. She has some fabulous sponsors. (SEI, Elmers Glue, an I Love Lucy Doll and bracelet to mention a few things. Enjoy the recipes and if you would like to share a light recipe I would love it and I am sure others would also and if you aren't a follower of my blog I would love to have you join my follower list.

Winner of Jenn's Birthday Blog Hop

I am so honored that Jalisa from Patches of Pink has honored me with featuring my mirror the same day that Imaginisce also featured it on their blog. Everyone should go and check it out and join in the fun of her link up party and see if you can be featured also.

I asked my little grand daughter to be my radom counter this week and to pick a number. Annie picked #9. So the winner of the Recollection stamp set from Jenn's Birthday Blog Hop is: scrapbookmom79 she said... oh my goodness you put tons of details into this 2 pager...i wouldn't have the energy. The favorite thing about my b-day is that it's in the summer and we always have yummy cocktails and bbq!

Mardi Gras Celebration

MY MARDI GRAS MASKI made this swell looking mask for my Mardi Gras Celebration. I bought the mask at our local Hobby Lobby, it was already gold in color and I thought it would work perfectly for Mardi Gras. I took my green and purple glitter paper, cut and glued it on to the top of the mask, added some gold and purple gemstones. At the top of the mask I did some accordian folded paper from the "Ginger" paper by Cosmo Cricket and used two way tape to adhere it. I had some really sparkly purple ribbon and ric rack so I added that also to give it a finished look.

At Hobby Lobby they had some black feathers, of course you have to have feathers for Mardi Gras so I added them and made another of these fabulous accordian folded flowers using my Martha Stewart Scoreboard and Imaginisce I-top and brads.
You can't have a celebration without a King Cake Remember if you get the piece with the baby you are the one making the cake and having the party next year
Supplies:
Gold, Purple, Green Glitter Paper
Gold, Purple, Green Multi Gemstones
Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 Ginger Paper
Purple Fussy Ribbon
Glossy Accent
