You Make Me Happy....When Skies are Grey

 

You Make Me Happy... is made with the Echo Park This and That Gracious Collection. I distressed and inked all of the edges using my Tim Holtz distress tool, Chestnut Roan Ink and Tiny Attacher to create the look of distress/vintage feel. I added all of my pieces to a Kraft background, added a fun sheer bow along with stick pins from Making Memories. The sentiment comes from the This and That Sticker sheet and is a perfect sentiment to send to a special friend "When I am feeling Grey". Technique Tuesday -"Enjoy the Journey" Card using Adirodack Paint Dabbers

I have been dying to try stamping with the Adirondack Paint Dabbers on my stamps so for TECHNIQUE TUESDAY that is just we will do. If I must say for myself I think my card turned out pretty amazing. NOW.... if you don't have paint dabbers just use your acrylic paints that you have on hand they work also But you will have to use a dabber to dab the paint onto the stamp. MAKE SURE to wash your stamps as soon as you are finished because you don't want to have a build up of paint. SO FOR MY CARD.... I used Tim Holtz Visual Artistry " The Journey" and Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Mixed Media Stamp sets, along with Red Pepper and Lettuce Paint Dabbers. NOW.... to achieve the look have a moist paper towel handy and once you stamp the Red Pepper Dots back ground on swipe over it with the paper towel in both directions. Allow it to dry before you stamp the Lettuce and Chicken Wire Background stamp on.
Once it is stamped add the Cross Hatched Stamp and Sentiment stamp with your Black Memento ink or another black dye ink. I stamped and fussy cut my plane on Graphic 45 The Three R's paper and my Graphic 45 School Days paper is distressed with the Tim Holtz distresser. I placed my plane on the card with pop dots as well as the metal dog tag. I added ribbon to the top of my border strip. Wild and Free Card

Love, love Rub-Ons, most everyone I know are scared of them but I will share a little secret with you. Lay your rub on on your project and rub over them until you think they have adhered themselves to your project. NOW for the secret, start on the edge and start lifting slowly all the while continue to rub and lift. This will help you see what hasn't adhered and then you can keep rubbing that area until it does. (Most people think they have them down and lift the image up at once and usually it is completely down.)
For my card I used Persimmon card stock as the base,a small piece of paper from Jillibean Blossom Soup Paper Pad, Rub-Ons are from My Mind's Eye and I stained my Maya Road Flower Ribbon with Peeled Paint Stain from Tim Holtz. I also added a couple of staples at each end of the ribbon to help it stay in place.
I hope my hint helps you with your rub-ons and that you will try using them in the future. Hugs Pammejo

You Make My Heart Sing Card

"You Make My Heart Sing" Card is such a fun card using the new American Craft Neapolitan papers. I used the Lucky Laugh and the Cheerful Notes to make my card with. I first embossed a piece of white card stock using Hero Arts Flower Pattern Background stamp along with Seafoam White Embossing Powder, once the power was set I rubbed Tim Holtz Dried Marigold Stain over the top of it and then just lightly pressed the stain over each of the flowers to give them depth. I took my EK Success Corner Chomper and did all the pieces for my card before I started stacking them together. I did place my embossed piece on pop dots because of the orange gingham ribbon, it helps it to lay flatter. I added my sentiment that I cut from the Cheerful Notes paper on pop dots also.
Don't you love the metal Clip from Making Memories it matched the paper perfectly and gave that extra touch that I was looking for; of course no project is complete without a bit of bling so I added some to the clip and to the sentiment.

The Journey Awakens The Soul Tag

I started thinking about the McGill punches and thought what other fun way can I use the punch besides making flowers and borders and I thought why not make a dress. So with that in mind I started punching a bunch of flower petals from the Rose Punch and Basic Grey Out of Print paper pad. I covered the tag with Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap Paper and stained it using Tim Holtz Ripe Persimmon and Tea Dyed Distress Inks. I stained my ribbon with Orange Marmalade and Peeled Paint and set them to one side to dry. I added a border of the Tissue Ribbon to the bottom of the tag along with a paper border strip and attached it with the tiny attacher. I fussy cut a couple of flowers from the paper collection, added some of the Glimmer Glaze and a smaller tag that I stamped with the Tim Holtz "Lost and Found Stamps" to the top of the tag.
To Make the Dress:
Cover the "Sewing Room" dress form with paper after you have cut a "v" in the neck and cut the stand off of the form. Start at the bottom and layer the petals that you have formed to the base of the dress until you get to the waist. Tie a ribbon around the waist of the dress. Add some tiny pearl bling to the neckline and place on tag with pop dots. I added some Glimmer Glaze to the top of the dress once I had it on top of the tag.
So my challenge to you is to look at your punches and see if you can come up with a fun idea to use them in a different way. Hugs Pammejo

Technique Tuesday - Dry Embossing and Simple Stories!!!

Today we are going to talk a bit about dry embossing!!! I made my card using the Simple Stories 100 Days of Summer Flash Card paper and a sheet of blue cardstock. I embossed my blue background using the Tim Holtz Honeycomb Embossing Folder. I added a sentiment from the Flash Card paper onto a strip I cut and distress from the paper using my Tim Holtz distress tool. I made  three flags, distressed them and added them to the card using Mandarin Twine from the Twinery and pop dots!!!

Now on to how to EMBOSS, I have a Texture Boutique from Sizzix that I use for my embossing but if you have a Big Shot or a different die cut machine you maybe able to emboss with them. So make sure to check out your die cut machines to see if is able to emboss.

On most machines you will have the directions on how to use them, what I like about Sizzix is that the directions are right on the boards so they are always with you.

To show you what I did I am using a piece of pink Core'dinations paper because it has a color core inside (on my card I used a piece of blue card stock). So look at your directions and it will show you to place your paper in between the folder, close it, place the folder on one of the black boards, place white shim and then the other black board and crank through the machine by turning the handle. Make sure that it goes all the way through the machine.

The pink piece is the piece I ran though the Sizzix Texture Boutique. Do you see how the honeycomb is more pronounced than the one I have one my card. It is because the paper has a colored core in it and when you run it through the boutique it shows the core but you are able to sand it off a bit more so the core shows better. It is a fabulous look to your paper. I hope you try embossing and what is so fun is you are able to emboss on more than paper; you can also emboss on  chipboard, acrylic  and many other things. Technique Tuesday -Jean Album

 

Today is going to be a bit different on Technique Tuesday. Today I would like to share with you that I have been published in the Summer issue of Scrapbooking and Beyond Summer 2012 issue. I made a very clever and fun alter album using the pockets off your blue/red/green/brown... oh well any color jean you may have laying around. Here is a sneak peak at the cover of the album. For the rest of the details you will have to get you....

and on page 38, 39, 40 and 41 are all of the scrumptious details of the album. So if you have old jeans just laying around, get your scissors out and begin cutting them up, save everything from the buttons, zipper and even lining of the pockets (I made flowers with them).
