Challenge #14 Button it Up with Craft Hoarders Anonymous and Altered Pages Blog Hop

Challenge #14 Button it Up!
Crafters of every stripe are button hoarders! Buttons are pretty, inexpensive, and extremely versatile. If you are a card maker, quilter, layout artist, or anything in between, you probably have a button hoard! Buttons come in many sizes, styles, shapes, and colors, plus they are easy to store...usually in cute containers! Pull out those bins of buttons and use some of them for your challenge project!
As soon as seen what our challenge on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog was this month I knew I was going to finally be able to dress this mannequin. The mannequin has been on my shelf for almost two years just waiting for that special event, lol.
The mannequin is about 10" tall. I painted the top of the form in a flesh color and the stand part in black prior to dressing.
I started my dress by first making an underskirt using 7 Gypsy Key Tissue Paper, fold it in half and do a running stitch at the top. (Be careful to gradually pull the thread through or the paper will tear) Once you have attached the paper to the form wrap more tissue paper around the top to form the dress top.
I cut out 10 black and 10 of the tulle paper from Canvas Corp to form the skirt and attached them to waist of my mannequin and added a large red button to the tulle pieces.   (Canvas Corp is also one of our fabulous sponsors for this challenge.)
I wrapped the waist with sheer ribbon, made a pretty bow and added a tag from the Antique Sewing Collage Sheet from Altered Pages along with flowers and a few metal embellishments.
Of course with the challenge being "buttons" I had to add a buttons to my mannequin.
Wow, that was a lot of photos but here is one more of how I finished the bottom of the stand. Love these little scissors I had in my stash.
To finish my project I made a fabulous card from the scraps I had left of the Canvas Corp Paper and flowers. I love the vintage Antique Sewing Collage Sheet from Altered Pages and thought the image of the little girl was perfect for may card. I am so glad you stopped by my blog to check out my project and encourage to check out the rest of the projects for the CHACB  and Altered Pages Design Team post.
Remember to get out those buttons and link up your projects to the Craft Hoarder Anonymous Challenge Blog for a chance to win the prize from Altered Pages.
