A Pocket Full of Memories Blog Hop Sept 24-25

Hello Fall!!!! I love you so much. I love the colors of fall, the crisp air and the holiday seasons that are coming along from Halloween to Christmas, how fun. Today if you came by my blog to see my project I am so blessed and if you came by to do the hop with Jess from KinderStampo, thank you and I hope you add me as your friend and come back often, you should have arrived from Madison's Funky Cards Blog if you are hopping in the right direction but remember you can always start at the beginning by going to KinderStampo Blog.

We challenged to make albums using pockets and I am always up for a challenge (thanks Jess). I used 5 pages from the Melissa Frances book with pockets. It is really a 10 page book but I only used 5. I used the Recollections Autumn Collection that I bought last year at Michael's on the clearance rack for 80% off, you can't beat that.

See how the tags come out of the pocket holders. I tried to make each one interactive and even added a few extra hidden compartments.
Like this one, on one sheet of the paper was the Thanksgiving Dinner menu, of course it was a must to add but because my pockets were only a little over 4" wide I had to fold it in thirds and used this fun clip to hold it together. See how it is when it is folded out. I can add our Thanksgiving menu to it when the time is right and maybe even a few of our favorite family recipes.

Some of our Family Traditions is having a house full of family and friends come for the day but usually it is like a 4 to 5 day celebration. I thought I would have a page with some our favorite things we do like games, going to the park, etc along with a list of everyone's names and address - just so it would be more of a keepsake book then anything else.

One of our Family Traditions is we always go around our tables (because we have so many guest we have multiple tables) and tell what we are most thankful for. I am planning to have them right their thanksgivings in my book this year. Isn't that an awesome idea.
All of the tabs have some kind of three dimensional decoration on them, I like this one the best and use it all of the time.

Another thing my husband and I have done now for the last 15 years is give our children, grandchildren and friends a special ornament at Thanksgiving. We try to buy an ornament that commemorates an event that they did that year, we also try to find one that would be a first that they ever did so it would mean more. For instant we have two of grandchildren that just started karate so that might be a possibility for their special ornament this year. Of course I will have to now document them this year in my cool little pocket album that I made.

Here is the front side of my pocket inserts.

And here are the back of my pocket inserts. I hope you enjoyed my "Family Traditions" Pocket Album and that you are inspired to try to make one for you and your family. I hope you continue on the hop by going to Sandra's 365 Days of Cricut and see her fabulous Pocket Album, she is so talented and I am sure you will be inspired by her also. Remember to start the hop with KinderStampo there will be lots of inspiration, tutorials and giveaways along the way. I know that KinderStampo has 4 sponsors: PSA Essentials, PYMII, Helmar, and Lindy's Stamp Gang and you wouldn't want to miss out on that. Again, I would love for you to leave a comment and follow my blog if you are inspired to do so.

Give Thanks Pilgrim Hat Card

I made this very cute Thanksgiving card using my Thanksgiving Cricut Cartridge and Recollection papers. Super easy card, just use the pilgrim hat on the cartridge and cut the hat to measure 5". I used the Recollection paper to do the brim, I made stitch marks with my Black Zig Pen and some yellow chalk to high light the left side of the card. I used one of the Recollection dimension sticker for the buckle and placed it to the front of the band along with some of the Recollection sticker leaves.
Inside of my card is a sentiment sticker from SRM Thank You Sentiments. Like I said super easy and way to just say thank you to all over this Thanksgiving Season. May you each have a blessed day.

"Generation Frame"

This photo is a three generation photo of my son Matt with his dad and grandma. This was probably one of the last photos of them all together. It gave me great joy to do this project and brought tears to my eyes.

I used the GCD Artsy Urban Collection - Colored Birds and the Ella Blue Collection- Grace and Raleigh. My frame is from Creative Imaginations. I first painted the frame using Cremcoat Spice Brown, once it was dried I paper craft the front of the frame, inked the edges with Chestnut brown ink and added lace, flowers, gemstones. I made some of fabulous spiral flowers that was featured in a previous tutorial, and added some spiral twigs from some flowers I bought from Hobby Lobby. I made some leaves using some sheer green ribbon. Hope you enjoy and try making your own decorated frames.

"Baby Girl Book and Box"

As promised from yesterday blog entry - the baby book that fits nicely inside of the beverage box. I did have to cut the front piece that seperates the two spots so I could get both the book and the rattle in the spot.

I used Pink Stitchery paper from the Homespun Chic Collection on the covers of my book. I took a white doily and sprayed it with glimmer mist, glue it to the front and cut it to fit the front cover. I used a rub on from Imaginisce "From the Heart" on white paper to go behind the Homespun Chic Layered Frames. Glue your frame to the front of your book (make sure that it glued really, really well). Once it is secured I used Glossy Accent to fill the center of the frame. I allowed mine to dry over night. It will create a glass look. I add small flowers and gemstones from Recollections once I knew that it was dry.

The inside pages are the Homespun Chic Collection Recipe Cards. I used the K&Company Suzy Ultman - Lion Steps for my months on the pages of my book. I used Homespun Chic papers and cardstock for my mats, stickers from Karen Foster Smile & Giggles Stickers, Prima flowers, American Traditions Stickers, Recollection flowers, twine, buttons, gemstones, lace, and ribbon to embellish my pages with.

After my inside pages were completed. I put my book together and added a metal tag from Flair Designs to hang off the jump rings, make sure to tie some pretty ribbons on your jump rings.

"Recycle At Its Best"

I made this sweet baby girl gift box for my GCD project this week, I have been getting a lot of things accomplished since I have been spotlighted this month on the GCD facebook. I can't thank everyone enough for all the sweet comments and visits to my blog.
I used a beverage box to make my gift box from. I covered it with papers from the Homespun Chic Collection. I used Petite Blossom, Mod Flocking and Stitchery Glitter paper and a frame from the Layered Frames embellishment. My ABC's are My Minds Eye Sophie. I also used Prima and Recollection flowers, along with some gemstones from Recollections and a lot of buttons and twine.
Here is a closer look at the details of the frame and the flowers. Homespun Chic is such a beautiful collection.
Come back tomorrow and I will share about the book that is inside the box. So simple but so cute.
